For problem 14, write a system of equations for the given information, and then graph the system on graph paper to find the solution or solutions.

  1. John takes a job earning $10.50 an hour, and will get a $0.50 hourly raise every 4 months. Katie’s new job pays $9.50 an hour, with a raise of $0.75 every 4 months. After how long will Katie earn more per hour than John?

For problem 15, write a system of inequalities for the given information, and then graph the system on graph paper provided to solve the problem.

  1. Jalen manages two departments at a printer plant: one department assembles the printers and one packages them for shipment. Jalen knows that it takes 0.20 hours to assemble each inkjet printer and 3 hours to assemble each laser printer. He has allotted no more than 150 hours for assembly. He also knows that it takes 0.20 hours to pack each inkjet printer and 0.40 hours to pack each laser printer. He has allotted no more than 50 hours for packing.
  1. What system of inequalities represents the time Jalen has for his staff to assemble and package the printers?

  1. What is the graph of the solution to this system?
